Many Hands Made Light Work for HOPE.wrx in February
HOPE.wrx had the privilege of welcoming several volunteers during February. Timing is everything, especially for two new long-term Food Pantry staffers, and several young people in search of an opportunity to earn service hours. Volunteer opportunities at HOPE.wrx are never dull -- and we can always use the help!
HOPE.wrx Serves Almost 12,000 Individuals in 2014
The numbers of Clay and Platte county residents who seek help from HOPE.wrx continues to climb each year. Volunteers served more than 11,750 people in 2014. In the food pantry last year, we fed 1,882 families, which represents 11,077 individuals. During the 2013-14 school year, HOPE.wrx loaded family back packs for 143 families.More

Continuing the Crestview Tradition
Did you know that HOPE.wrx, as the outreach arm of Hillside Christian Church, provides lunch each year for the teachers at Crestview Elementary on the last day of their school year? It’s a tradition begun years ago, when Hillside became a community partner of Crestview. On May 29th, HOPE.wrx again provided lunch for the teachers as they cleaned out their classrooms and closed out the school year.More
Spring Spruce-Up in the Food Pantry
HOPE.wrx has undergone some sprucing-up this spring. Hillside Christian Church, in whose building HOPE.wrx is located, recently resurfaced its parking lot, and HOPE.wrx now has an even more attractive front drive. In addition, church member Al Stevens recently removed the chain-link fence in front and along the side of our facility.More
Summertime in the Food Pantry
HOPE.wrx served a whopping 961 people in the month of June, and the summer is far from over. During the summertime, when kids are out of school and a regular meal source stops temporarily, our Food Pantry always sees a rise in the number of folks we serve. But June may be a record month on the books. The need never ends, and while we’re glad we can be here to help, our shelves always seem nearly empty during June, July, and August.More
